Cocktail and G&T recipes

Behold, ladies and gentlemen! This is to some considered the zenith of mixology. The Martinez, and the Martini are siblings, and some consider the Martinez to be the granddad of gin cocktails. As it is often the case with cocktail history, the origin of the Martinez is obscure, but it is said to be rooted in California invented by famous bon-vivant Jerry Thomas. This is a beautiful cocktail with a burnt oaky honey colour and a refined taste. The Martinez is the perfect after-dinner companion and one of the few cocktails that deserve its status as a classic to an almost ineffable level. With Mother Nature this cocktail is a good way to showcase the use of gin in cocktails, since it stands out among the other ingredients and really helps make it all come together.

Named for its sky-blue hue, thanks to a touch of crème de violette, the Aviation hails from the early days of aeronautics – when flying was a glamorous luxury reserved for the few. Originating in the 1910s, this cocktail carries with it the spirit of the Art Deco era: think DC-3 aircraft, tailored suits, and the golden age of flight. We can’t say for sure if Howard Hughes was a fan, but we’re confident he would’ve approved.

The taste of the Eggspressionism cocktail goes beyond national borders - a true descendant from heaven with gold dust and exotic flavours. It marries Danish nature with Japanese ume plums and yuzu citrus, making this a complex yet refreshing cocktail.

This cocktail is an exciting combination of watermelon and aromatic bitter, which goes perfectly with the deep licorice and coriander notes from Njord Distilled Mother Nature gin.

This elegant classic has its roots in 19th-century New York, where it was originally known as the "Sweet Martini." With its perfect balance of gin and vermouth, it quickly became a favorite in Manhattan's bars. When Prohibition swept through America, the Gin & It made its way across the Atlantic to London, where it took root among the British – not least because of their love of gin. The name "It" refers to the sweet vermouth's country of origin, Italy, which is an essential ingredient in this timeless cocktail.

With Njord Distilled Mother Nature and our Njord Ligalab Vermouth, this classic gains a Scandinavian twist. The gin, with its notes of sweet woodruff, rowan berries, and sea buckthorn, adds depth and a taste of Danish nature. Meanwhile, the vermouth contributes complexity with its base of Danish apple wine, spiced with aromatic herbs and aged in Burgundy barrels.

The result is a cocktail that combines sweetness, bitterness, and a subtle dryness – perfect to enjoy neat over ice as a flavorful appetizer.
