About the cocktail

The Martini is a matter of taste that divides opinions. Should it be stirred or shaken? Made with vodka or gin? Garnished with olives or lemon? Should it be enjoyed with a beautiful woman by your side in an Aston Martin while muscular villains chase you down winding mountain roads – or be the perfect pairing for seafood?

Our Maritime Martini, crafted with Distilled Sand and Sea Gin, is as ideal for oysters as it is for an undercover mission at a casino in Monaco. This gin is distilled with seaweed, sea beet, sea mustard, and sea kale, combined with a distillate of potatoes and barley malt. The maritime botanicals from the sea and coast add a deep, salty, green, peppery, and umami-like dimension to the cocktail.

For this cocktail, we use Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth – one of the first vermouths ever used in a Martini recipe. This dry vermouth is made from French white wines and infused with 20 herbs and spices from around the world, including chamomile, Moroccan coriander, bitter oranges from Tunisia, and elderflower. Noilly Prat is barrel-aged near the southern French coast, adding subtle maritime notes to the cocktail.

The cocktail itself is an elegant balance between the raw power of Sand and Sea Gin, the aromatic finesse of the vermouth, and the citrusy expression of the bitters. The salty and umami-like tones from the gin meld with the vermouth's complex herbal aromas and slight bitterness. Served ice-cold, it has a silky texture and an intense flavor profile – a cocktail no gentleman in Her Majesty’s Secret Service with a license to kill could resist.

6 cl Distilled Sand and Sea Gin

About the gin

Our original Sand and Sea is already one of the most innovative and avantgarde gins we make. In this special edition we have taken it one step further and infused the gin with Danish amber. We let the magic properties of alcohol dissolve amber which is millions of years old, and so reveal its fantastic ancient aromas. The result is a marvelous edition of the award-winning Sand And Sea which already contains many layers spanning from deep umami to refined sweetness.
