The Bee’s Knees is a classic cocktail traditionally made with gin, honey, and lemon juice. In this recipe, we also added a splash of orange juice which was made popular by the mixologist David Embury in his 1948 book The Fines Art of Mixing Drinks in which he says, "The addition of a small amount of orange juice makes for an interesting variation".
This recipe is strong, yet refreshing and sweet, made with our Distilled Slow Sloe gin for added sweetness.
1 cl honey
2 cl freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 cl freshly squeezed orange juice
An orange zest twist, for garnish
1. Add gin and honey to a shaker and stir until the honey dissolves.
2. Add the lemon and orange juice and top up with ice. Shake well.
3. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with an orange zest twist.
Cheers!
Slow Sloe both builds on and challenges the proud British sloe gin traditions. Whole sloe berries and a small amount of blackberries is infused in the gin for 9 - 12 months before it is sweetened with honey from Njord’s distillery garden and bottled. The result is a gin with lots of fruit and intense notes of almond and marzipan from the kernels entwined with floral notes that partly come from the honey.
We have this special Slow Sloe gin available as well as a signature cocktail with it. If you'd like to know more about our spirit and receive special offers year round then you can sign up to our newsletter at the bottom of our page.
