About the cocktail

This fresh, champagne-based classic is said to hit just as hard as a French 75 mm field cannon—a tale shared among French and American pilots who toasted with it after air battles during World War I.

The cocktail also made its way into the world of film, where Humphrey Bogart, playing Rick Blaine in Casablanca (1942), orders a French 75 as a subtle act of resistance against the German officer his former flame brings to Rick’s bar.

Inspired by the Moroccan city, we’ve added a spiced flavor dimension to the cocktail with Njord Distilled Happy Minds. Here, notes of cumin, lavender, nutmeg, and bay leaves blend seamlessly with hints of citrus, juniper, and sparkling wine—giving this classic an exciting, North African-inspired twist.

Ingredients

4 cl Distilled Happy Minds

2 cl freshly squeezed lemon juice

2 cl sugar syrup

Sparkling wine

A lemon peel, for garnish

Instructions

1. Pour gin, lemon juice, and sugar syrup into an ice-filled shaker and shake until well-chilled.

2. Strain into a chilled flute glass and top with sparkling wine.

3. Garnish with a lemon peel.

About the gin
