Every year since 2021, Njord has created a cocktail featuring that year’s Aarhus Festuge gin, which is served, among other occasions, at the festival’s official opening. As tradition dictates, the Festuge gin tells a story of a well-known Aarhusian through its herbs, berries and flowers. In 2026, the gin was created in collaboration with Flemming Møldrup, an Aarhusian in exile, who spent much of his youth in his grandparents’ allotment garden in Vejlby and is now well known from television, books and more.
The Aarhus Kolo Colada is a sweet, fresh and festive serve built around this year’s Aarhus Festuge x Flemming Møldrup gin featuring juniper, red currant, hemp seeds, peas and sumac. The cocktail adds extra layers to the gin: sweetness inspired by Flemming’s memories of his grandparents’ allotment garden, in the form of raspberry or red currant soda, combined with a soft, exotic touch inspired by Flemming’s summers on the beaches around Aarhus. Pineapple and coconut juice bring a nostalgic hint of 1990s sunscreen. Garnished with pea shoots from the allotment garden. Best enjoyed in good company and a festive mood.
