Gin Tasting – Aarhus Festuge Special

Gin Tasting – Aarhus Festuge Special

For the sixth time, the Aarhus distillery Njord has developed the official festugegin. This year, Aarhus native Flemming Møldrup has taken over the mantle from last year’s icon and Olympic medalist Sara Slott, to take Njord on a sensory journey and a spiritual foraging expedition in search of an Aarhus gin with edge and charm.

The distillers from Njord explain, among other things, how they have collaborated with Flemming to develop the gin. In addition, they will guide you through three different gins and two different cocktails, one of which is this year’s Festugecocktail, served at the festival’s gala opening at Musikhuset.

Program

· Welcome cocktail and tour of the distillery

· Tasting of the festugegin with and without tonic

· During the tasting of the festugegin, Lars Toke and Troels will talk about Flemming’s role in the gin development, and how his upbringing and connection to Aarhus influence the gin’s flavour profile.

· Tasting of 3 other Njord gins with and without tonic, where Troels and Lars Toke will also talk about their history, the different gins, and the history of gin in general.

· Cocktail featuring this year’s Festival gin to end the evening. The cocktail will also be served at the festival’s gala opening at Musikhuset.

Flemming is known, among other things, for his appearances in TV programs such as “Kender Du Typen” and “Vild Med Bøger”, and he has made a name for himself through his knowledgeable and friendly personality in lectures and podcasts.

He grew up with his mother in Vejlby, and as a young man he would bring both a leather jacket and cannabis when visiting his grandparents in an allotment garden in Aarhus. Flemming’s upbringing in Aarhus, as well as his regular visits to his father in the Middle East, have given him a strong openness and a desire to experiment, which is also reflected in the layered flavour profile that characterises this year’s official Festugegin.
